Les mardi 22 et mercredi 23 mars ont eu lieu les essais pré-saison de l’European Le Mans Series sur le circuit Paul Ricard, au Castellet. L’ensemble du plateau (42 voitures) était présent à commencer par la Morgan Nissan LM P2 de Pegasus Racing. Au terme des deux jours, l’équipe est repartie satisfaite du travail accompli.

 

 

Pour mener à bien ces tests, l’équipage qui disputera l’intégralité de la saison 2016 en European Le Mans Series était présent à savoir Inès Taittinger, Rémy Striebig et Stéphane Raffin. Ils étaient accompagnés de Léo Roussel, pilote Pegasus Racing depuis deux saisons maintenant.

 

Le but de ce roulage était de laisser le temps aux pilotes de se familiariser avec la voiture. La première journée a été consacrée au coaching des pilotes. Le lendemain, les choses se sont accélérées et les chronos ont commencé à descendre pour les trois nouveaux pilotes. Quant à Léo Roussel, il était, lui, chargé de faire un comparatif entre les pneus Michelin 2015 et 2016 puis a signé le temps de référence.

 A l’issue de ces essais qui comportaient cinq sessions, la Morgan Nissan LM P2 n°29 a parcouru  les 5.791 kilomètres du Circuit Paul Ricard à 174 reprises. Le meilleur temps de la voiture a été signé par Léo Roussel en 1’49’’736, le deuxième temps le plus rapide de la session de mercredi après-midi.

 

Après deux journées de travail et de collecte de données qui permettront d’aborder au mieux la quatrième manche du championnat qui se déroulera sur le même circuit, l’équipe a rejoint ses ateliers en Alsace afin de préparer au mieux la première course. Cette dernière aura lieu sur le circuit de Silverstone, en Grande-Bretagne, le samedi 16 avril. A cette occasion, Pegasus Racing engagera bien sa Morgan Nissan LM P2 et réfléchit actuellement à aligner une seconde voiture.

Julien Schell, team manager : «Je suis ravi des tests que nous venons d’effectuer. La voiture a très bien fonctionné, les pilotes ont bien progressé et l’ambiance au sein du team a été bonne. Léo Roussel a très bien roulé, effectuant le deuxième temps le plus rapide en fin de journée. De plus, les essais qu’il a menés avec les pneus ont montré que les nouveaux Michelin sont très efficaces, ce qui me ravit.
Inès (Taittinger) a, pour sa part, progressé tour après tour, restant très à l’écoute des conseils donnés. Rémy (Striebig) et Stéphane (Raffin) ont amélioré leurs chronos et commencent à trouver leurs marques. Nous avons de quoi être satisfaits avant de nous présenter pour la première manche à Silverstone… »

 

 

To complete these tests successfully, the 2016 European Le Mans Series line-up was on track: Inès Taittinger, Rémy Striebig and Stéphane Raffin. They were guided by Léo Roussel, Pegasus Racing driver for two seasons.
 

The goal of these two days was to give time to the drivers to get acquainted with the car. The first day was devoted to drivers coaching. The following day, things speeded up and laptimes started to fall for the three drivers. Regarding Léo Roussel, he was in charge of comparing the 2015 and 2016 Michelin tyres, then signing the time to beat.
 
 
At the end of these tests including five sessions, the #29 Morgan Nissan LM P2 accomplished 174 laps of the Circuit Paul Ricard. The fastest time of the car was signed by Léo Roussel in 1:49.736, the second fastest time of Wednesday afternoon session.
 

After two days of work, useful data was gathered for the team in preparation for the fourth round held on the same track; the team went back to its workshops in Alsace in order to prepare the first race. The initial round will take place in Great Britain, at Silverstone, on Saturday, April 16th. For this occasion, Pegasus Racing team will have its Morgan Nissan LM P2 and is thinking about entering a second car.

Léo Roussel drove very well, signing the second fastest time at the end of the day. Moreover, the tests he did with the tyres showed the new Michelin tyres are very efficient, which thrills me.
Inès (Taittinger) got better lap after lap and was very attentive to the given advice. Rémy (Striebig) and Stéphane (Raffin) improved their laptimes and start to find their pace. We are really satisfied before going to the first round at Silverstone … »
