Le programme de la Journée Test des 84e 24 Heures du Mans comportait plusieurs axes pour Pegasus Racing. Tout d’abord, Léo Roussel fut chargé du shakedown de la voiture. En effet, des nouvelles pièces et un moteur tout neuf avaient été montés au préalable. Après cette vérification, Inès Taittinger et Rèmy Striebig ont pu réaliser leurs 10 tours obligatoires, condition sine qua non pour participer aux 24 Heures du Mans.
Léo a ensuite pu reprendre le volant afin de commencer à travailler sur les réglages de la Morgan Nissan n°28, la base de la course 2015 servant de référence. Des essais de pneus ont également pu être menés car les gommes Michelin sont légèrement différentes de l’an dernier. Inès et Rémy ont ensuite pu continuer à apprendre la voiture et le circuit.
En fin de séance, les trois pilotes ont pu à nouveau rouler. Léo a essayé d’améliorer ses temps. Quant à Inès et Rémy, ils ont de nouveau pu améliorer leurs connaissances de la piste. Cependant, un accident d’un autre concurrent a mis fin définitivement à la séance.
Le programme prévu ce dimanche a été respecté à la lettre. Au final, la Morgan Nissan n°28 a réalisé le 20e temps de la catégorie LM P2. La voiture va désormais être préparée en vue des premiers essais qualificatifs qui auront lieu le mercredi 15 juin à 22 h. Pour rappel, les 24 Heures du Mans auront lieu le samedi 18 et 19 juin.
Inès Taittinger : « Cette Journée Test s’est globalement bien passée. Maintenant, il faut que je roule encore car je dois améliorer mes acquis. Ce circuit est juste énorme. Quand j’ai fait mes premiers tours, je me suis dit « Ca y est, j’y suis. » C’est incroyable et magique surtout lorsque l’on se fait dépasser par les LM P1. Je dois me concentrer sur les zones de freinage, je perds principalement du temps dans les virages Porsche. »
Léo Roussel : « Le bilan de la Journée Test est mitigé. Inés et Rémy ont commencé par réaliser leurs 10 tours obligatoires. Ensuite, nous avons eu du mal avec le set-up de la voiture car les conditions de piste n’étaient pas très évidentes. En fin de journée, nous avons trouvé les bons réglages mais je n’ai pas réussi à aligner les secteurs. Le programme a été bouclé, c’est le principal. Nous avons roulé sans connaître de vrais soucis. Le potentiel est là, nous allons continuer à travailler en vue de la séance d’essais libres du mercredi. »
Rémy Striebig : « Le bilan est positif. J’ai découvert ce circuit même si j’y avais déjà roulé en compétition de véhicules classiques. J’ai géré le trafic surtout les LM P1 qui arrivent très vite. Je dois encore travailler sur les acquis pour améliorer mes temps au tour. C’est surtout certains passages au niveau des virages Porsche. C’est l’endroit le plus impressionnant. Cependant, je commence à prendre confiance et cela ira mieux la prochaine fois. » 
A studious test Day for Pegasus Racing
At the 24 Hours of Le MansTest Day, Pegasus Racing benefited from the 8 hours to make its drivers run and prepare the car for the race. At the end, the Morgan-Nissan set the 20th time of the LM P2 category.
The Pegasus Racing’s program for the 24 Hours of Le Mans Test Day had several lines. First of all, Léo Roussel was in charge of the shakedown of the car. Indeed, some new parts and a brand new engine had been installed in the car. After his checks, Inès Taittinger and Rèmy Striebig were able to complete their 10 compulsory laps, a must to compete the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Then, Léo got behind the wheel again in order to work on the set-up of the #28 Morgan Nissan. Some tyre testings were also achieved because the Michelin tyres are slightly different from last year. Next, Inès and Rémy could go on learning the car and the track.
At the end of the session, the three drivers were asked to drive again. Léo tried to improve the time of the car. Regarding Inès and Rémy, they once again improved their knowledge of the track. However, a crash from another competitor put the session into an end.
The scheduled program was fully respected. At the end, the #28 Morgan Nissan set the 20th time of the LM P2 category. Now, the car is going to be prepared for the first qualifying session, on Wednesday 15th June, at 10 pm. To remind, the 24 Hours of Le Mans will be held on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th June.
Inès Taittinger : “This Test Day went quite well. Now, I have to drive more because I have to improve my data. This track is just amazing. When I completed my first laps, I told myself: “That is it! I am here!” It is awesome and magic especially when we are overtaken by LM P1 cars. I have to focus on the breaking zones, I mainly lose time in the Porsche Curves.”
Léo Roussel: « It is a mixed of results. Inés and Rémy started to complete their 10 compulsory laps. Then, we had troubles on the set-up of the car because the track conditions were not really easy. At the end of the day, we found the right set-up but I did not succeed in being consistent in all the sectors. The program was fulfilled; it is the most important thing. We did not have any troubles on the car. The potential is there, we are going to keep on working for the free practise session of Wednesday.”
Rémy Striebig : « The assessment is quite good. I discovered the track even if I had already driven there at historical races. I had to manage the traffic especially with the LM P1s which are coming so quick behind us. I still have to work on my data to improve my laptimes, especially in the Porsche Curves. It is the most impressive place of the track. However, I am starting to be confident, it will be better next time.”
