Le WEC fait évoluer le calendrier pour répondre aux concurrents et aux fans
Pierre Fillon, Président de l'Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO), et Gérard Neveu, Directeur Général du Championnat du Monde d'Endurance FIA (WEC) évoquent les lignes directrices de la saison 2018-2019.

 

Parmi celles-ci figuraient l'attention primordiale portée par le WEC aux concurrents, qu'il s'agisse des grands constructeurs ou des équipes privées, au produit en termes de compétition sportive à chaque course, et aux fans.
Dans ces deux semaines qui ont suivi les annonces de Mexico, le WEC a écouté attentivement ses concurrents et ses fans, et peut maintenant publier le calendrier définitif de la "Super Saison" 2018-2019, qui débutera l'année prochaine en avril.

 

Le calendrier définitif de la saison de transition 2018-2019 du WEC verra le retour des 6 Heures de Silverstone le 19 août. Cette course remplace celle précédemment annoncée, à l'origine à confirmer en février 2019. Une décision propre à ravir le constructeur britannique Aston Martin, ainsi que les nombreux pilotes et écuries basés au Royaume-Uni, et bien sûr les milliers de passionnés anglophiles d'endurance.  

 

Cette course de Silverstone sera accompagnée d'une manche European Le Mans Series, dont le calendrier complet sera annoncé la semaine prochaine à Spa-Francorchamps (Belgique). Dans le cadre du partenariat entre le WEC et l'IMSA, il était regrettable d'avoir une concurrence de date entre Petit Le Mans, l'une des courses majeures du calendrier de l'IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, et les 6 Heures de Fuji. Avec un souci de flexibilité et avec l'aide précieuse du Fuji International Speedway, le WEC est heureux d'annoncer que la date de sa manche japonaise a été modifiée, passant aux 20 et 21 octobre pour éviter cette concurrence de date.
Ce changement a modifié la date de la manche de Shanghai, compte tenu du délai de transport du fret du Japon vers la Chine. Les 6 Heures de Shanghai auront donc lieu les 17 et 18 novembre.

 

Fidèle à sa philosophie de rester en contact avec ses fans et d'être à l'écoute de leurs opinions, le Championnat du Monde d'Endurance FIA (WEC) est heureux d'annoncer le lancement d'une grande consultation sur le WEC en particulier et l'endurance en général, baptisée "Exprimez-vous sur l'avenir du WEC".
Les passionnés pourront ainsi exprimer leurs idées sur le futur du WEC, à partir de la saison 2019/202 et pour celles à venir.
Cette consultation sera menée en collaboration avec les plates-formes d'Autosport et Motorsport.com, et constituera une contribution importante dans le prochain chapitre de l'avenir du WEC. Bien entendu, les réactions des constructeurs, des équipes privées, des pilotes et de tous les intervenants de l'endurance seront également prises en compte.

Cette étude sera menée en dix langues et distribuée en monde entier par l'intermédiaire des réseaux d'Autosport et de Motorsport.com. L'ACO et le WEC attendent plus de 50 000 réponses, dans le but d'obtenir l'éventail d'opinions le plus large et le plus pertinent possible.

Environ une dizaine de minutes seront nécessaires pour répondre à cette grande enquête, qui sera lancée sur Internet le vendredi 22 septembre et dont les résultats seront présentés à Bahreïn, à l'occasion de la dernière manche de la saison 2017.  WEC evolves 'Super Season' in response to competitors and fans
Have your say on the future of the WEC

 

When President of the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO), Pierre Fillon, and CEO of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), Gérard Neveu, outlined the pathway to the new-look championship two weeks ago, they outlined several pivotal philosophies around which all decisions would be made.
Among these was that the major focus for the WEC remained the competitors – both major manufacturers and privateer entrants, the product in terms of the sporting competition delivered at every event, and the fans.
The WEC has listened intently to both its competitors and fans in the weeks since the announcement in Mexico City, and is now in a position to issue a final calendar for the 2018/19 ‘Super Season’ which will begin in April next year.

 

The final calendar for the WEC’s transitional 2018/19 season will see a return of the 6 Hours of Silverstone, on 19 August. This replaces the 2019 February TBC date previously announced, and will undoubtedly delight British manufacturer, Aston Martin Racing, the many UK-based teams and drivers, and thousands of passionate Anglophile fans of endurance racing.
The Silverstone event will be run in conjunction with a round of the European Le Mans Series, the full calendar for which will be announced in Spa, Belgium next week.

In view of the WEC’s partnership with IMSA, it was regrettable to have had a clash between Petit Le Mans, one of the key dates in the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship calendar, and the 6 Hours of Fuji. Thanks now to the flexibility and graciousness of Fuji International Speedway, the WEC is now pleased to announce that the date for the Japanese round of the championship has been changed to 20/21 October to avoid the clash.
This date change has also affected the date of the Shanghai round due to the time required to transport the freight from Japan to China and the 6 Hours of Shanghai will take place on 17/18 NovemberHave your say on the future of the WEC

Have your say on the future of the WEC Following the philosophy of being in touch with fans, and to listening to their opinions, the FIA World Endurance Championship is pleased to be able to announce that it will launch a global fan survey – “Have your say on the future of the WEC” – on the WEC and endurance racing.

Fans will thus be able to have their say on the future of the WEC from the 2019/2020 season and forwards. This will be done in collaboration with worldwide media superpower Autosport and Motorsport.com’s platforms, and will form an important part in the next chapter of the WEC’s future. Of course, the responses of manufacturers, privateer teams, drivers, and all other participants in endurance racing will also be welcomed.
The survey will be available to complete in 10 different languages and will be distributed to an international audience around the world via Autosport and Motorsport.com’s networks. The ACO and WEC are looking for more than 50,000 responses in order to get as wide a spread, and depth, of opinion as possible.

The survey, which will take approximately 10-12 minutes to complete, will be launched online on Friday 22 September. The results will be presented in Bahrain on the occasion of the final round of the 2017 season.
